My First Sewing Project

Recently I decided I wanted to learn how to sew. What better way to learn than making Elizabeth some spring dresses. So I went and bought the fabric and patterns and sat down with my mom to learn the basics. Overall I had a fun time and I'm very pleased with how the first dress is turning out. Here are some pictures of the dress as it is made.

This is the fabric I purchased at Walmart for $2/yard. I really like it!



Here's the basic shape of the dress.



Almost finished. I still have to sew the seem and add some buttons. I will post pictures of the final dress soon.

All Tuckered Out

Elizabeth was going 90 miles an hour yesterday. She was having so much fun playing in her carseat, watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, and running around the house. It finally caught up to her to the point where she was all tuckered out. She didn't even bother to get comfortable for her nap.

Hanging Out

Ever since we went to California for Christmas Elizabeth hasn't really liked being in her carseat. I don't blame her since 9 hours in a carseat before stopping for a night can be rough on a little one. Today Randy is helping his brother move so he had to take the carseat out. It's been sitting in our living room since this morning. Now guess who can't seem to leave it alone....Elizabeth!!! She's been playing in it all morning!

(Waving) Bye Bye!

Elizabeth is waving bye bye now. It is so cute! It's not what I would say a "traditional" wave, but it's a wave. She'll do it everytime I leave for work. If someone comes over, she'll wave to them to say hi. Adorable!

New Look

Today I decided to go Punky Brewster style on our family blog. If you remember the show, she had a bedroom where everything was painted a different color. It was pretty funky and I really liked it. Let me know what you think.

Under Construction

Our new pantry is coming along. I'm really liking the way it is turning out. Here's what it looks like so far.

Bye, Bye Old Pantry!

The goal for Randy and I this year was to start decorating our home one room at a time. The first room on our list was the pantry/laundry room. It is very spacious, however, the layout is very inefficient and lacks the storage we need for our food. The next couple of days will be dedicated to changing our pantry. Here are the before pictures. After pictures will be posted in a few days.

Cake Decorating

I've decided to sign up for a cake decorating class offered at the local community college. I'm really excited! I've always wanted to learn how to decorate cakes and now it's finally going to happen. I decided to take the plunge and sign up because Elizabeth's first birthday is coming up and I wanted to make something special for her big day. The class starts in a couple of weeks so keep a look out for new posts and pictures.

Superbowl Weekend!

I admit I'm not a hard core football fan like some in my family but every year I do like to watch the Superbowl. This year it is the Colts vs Bears and I for one don't care who wins but I know people that are routing for one or the other. Personally, I'm more excited about the comercials and the yummy queso I'll be making (mmmmmm...queso). But for those who are routing for a particular team, who are you routing for? Also for Dad and Megan....who won this year?
